Ford Mustang to Get a Little More Attention Under the Hood

The Ford Mustang has been redesigned from the ground up for the 2010 model year. Competing against fresh new muscle cars such as the Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger, not to mention import sports cars like the new Nissan 370Z, the latest Ford Mustang has plenty of work ahead of it. What may have been one of the disappointing aspects of the all-new Mustang is what came under the hood – the familiar 4.6-liter V8 from the previous generation. Luckily, this powerplant appears to be changing shortly.

Shelby American has announced they will expand the 2011 Shelby GT350 offerings to include a non-supercharged version aimed at competition in Sports Car Club of America events. In addition they will be offering six-speed automatic equipped version of the 2011 Shelby GT-350 street car. And to clarify, the GT350 street versions will be offered in both normally aspirated and supercharged versions

The choice to offer anormally aspirated version of the GT350 was driven by consumer demand says Shelby American.  And for the competition version, SCCA racing rules typically preclude a post-title added supercharger.

President and CEO of SGB LLC, Stephen Becker,  one of the most renowned Shelby authorities, announced the start of a new certified appraisal program for 1960s Shelby Cobras, GT350s and GT500s. Previously available only to a small group of companies, SGB’s expertise is now available to individuals contemplating the sale or purchase of a vintage Shelby car.

“For years, MOPAR, Corvette and Ford collectors have had access to detailed appraisals from experts in those cars, but enthusiasts have not been able to tap a form program when considering the purchase or sale of a Shelby,” said Becker. “With the expertise, records and access to details of Cobras, GT500s and GT350s available through SGB, collectors can now have the knowledge they need when making a decision on a Shelby they want to purchase or sell.”

Becker has performed appraisals for years. In late 2009, SGB provided an appraisal of 25 cars in the corporate and museum collection of Shelby American.
